  • About TPCC

Tokyo Predators Cricket Club is a club based in Tokyo.
The club is made up of very "social" cricketers ? some have played regularly over a long period of time, others donned the pads and gloves with the club for the first time in a long time!

Our aim is to have fun, be inclusive of everyone who is a club member and hopefully win some games along the way.

The Tokyo Predators Cricket club has members from Australia, England, Bangladesh, Sri-Lanka, Pakistan, India, New Zealand, South Africa and Japan.

We welcome anyone with a love of the game and a desire to have fun.

TPCC currently participates in 2 competitions.
One is JCL (Japan Cricket League) organized by JCA.
JCL is a one day match (40overs) competition played in either Fuji-city or Sano-city.
The league is comprised with teams mainly from Kanto district.
The other league is KCL (Kanto Cricket League).
This is also a 40overs one day match league where we play against teams from Tokyo, Chiba, Shizuoka and Nagoya.
Shizuoka and Koiwa ground is used for this league.

Both leagues are very competitive and we look forward to win the title in the future.

We also play friendly games throughout the year.
    - "Golden Bat Series" is a friendly series we play against the Paddy Foleys Cricket Club.

And - lastly but certainly not the least - we close out every year with "end of year function" or "bounenkai" as we call it in Japan, where we look back on our season to award outstanding players and set for the next season.

Club Selection Policy & Code Of Conduct

    Selection Policy:

Team selection policy for various competitions

    1. JCL League Games: The best available team plays. This team will be picked by a 3 person selection panel who will choose the team based on who they think will be competitive against the opposition in that game. Current form, your role as a cricketer (eg spinner/opener/wicket keeper, etc), your form the last time we played that side, how you are performing at training, are just some, but not all, of the ways the panel will choose the team.

    2. Friendly Games: First priority goes to people who have been available for league games and may have missed out.

    3. KCL double-header games, those staying overnight get precedence. Next priority goes to those who have been available for league games and may have missed out.

    4. JCL playoff games: The best available team plays, see above.

    5. KCL playoff games: First priority goes to those who have been available for JCL league games and have missed out, and also those who have played in the KCL

Playing Cricket in Japan requires compromise due to the limited amount of grounds and the travel involved in playing. Your club committee is committed to having people play as much cricket as an individual would like to, and the growth in games from past seasons demonstrates this commitment.

Type of match aside, the following points are considered when picking any side

    * Paid up members first and foremost for selection and roles in the side
    * Players that have made a commitment to training
    * Players that have made themselves available for all game types including friendlies and warm-up games (not just finals)
    * Players that have volunteered for umpiring duties throughout the season

There may be occasions when you do not bat (we chase runs very quickly) or you do not bowl (we bowl out opposition quickly). There is a new selection policy ensuring that all players over the course of the season get a chance for a lot of cricket.

    Player Code of Conduct:

    The Predators have a tremendous reputation for playing good cricket, being very respectful of the opposition and umpires on the field and a very inclusive club regardless of a players cricketing ability and background. All members are to follow a code of conduct which includes the following basic rules to abide by;

    1. Be at the ground by a minimum of 30 minutes before the match starts

    2. Offer assistance in setting up and setting down the ground with boundary ropes

    3. Not contest or argue with the umpire under any circumstance regardless of the decision (only the Captain can approach the umpire)

    4. Not make any threats or inappropriate comments towards any member of the opposition before, during or after the game

    5. Assist during the year with scoring and umpire duties if required (please learn how to score if you are unsure)

    6. Warm up and warm down "as a team", celebrate wickets "as a team", and support our team mates on and off the field "as team"

    7. Encourage your team mates during the game when there are misfields and mistakes

    8. Not pull out of the team on short notice once you have identified what batting or bowling position you have been selected to

    9. Not create factions or make comments on the club which could jeopardize club harmony, but go to the committee directly to raise concerns you may have

    10. Represent the club in a fashion that enhances its reputation for being an inclusive, fair and harmonious club

The Club Committee will act as the disciplinary panel and any breaches of the code of conduct may be referred to this panel. The panel has the right to suspend players from games and for any major breaches dismiss players from the club.
